If you mean 'iwpriv wlan# pseudo_ibss <0/1>', it is used for selecting whether the driver uses real IEEE 802.11 IBSS with automatic channel selection and association etc. (0) or "pseudo ad-hoc" mode that does not use any management frames (1). This controls how the driver configures the card in Adhoc mode and does not have any effect on other modes.

Very limited method for sending frames directly between two APs (i.e., not between stations associated to these APs) is implemented in the driver, but it may need some manual changes, etc. It might be usable if you can route packets between stations using normal
I'm currently working with more complete support for wireless distribution system. This should give a method for bridging packets between stations associated to different APs. However, at least the initial implementation will have to use non-standard frame format due to problems with Prism2 firmware (i.e., WDS part will not work with standard compliant 802.11 APs).
