This does not require monitor mode. Actually, I have already implemented this for the next release of the driver. The driver can now be configured to "monitor" neighboring APs (either none, all with same SSID, or all). The AP information is available like the station information (in /proc/net/prism2/wlan#/<addr>).
I also got WDS stuff finished yesterday and it can be configured to use this monitor AP information to build WDS connections between APs. However, this is still quite untested. I'm planning to do some code cleaning, documentation documentation, and maybe even some testing ;-). If nothing major comes up, I'll try to release the next version later today.
