No Access Point in range

Hi!

I have one D-Link DWL-650 card in one computer running as an access point (Master mode), and one laptop with Lucent WaveLAN card as a client (Managed mode). The comunication between them works fine. I'm trying to find a programm which I can see from the laptop (client) which access points it can find. I found one programm, Wavemon (version 0.3.3), and when I run it in the host ap seems to works fine, but when I run it in the client and look for the Access Points in range, it gives me the message: "No access points in range". Shouldn't it find the host ap access point?
How can I get sure that both computers are conected via access point, and not Ad-Hoc???

I appreciate any help.
