To All,
Well I solved my versioning problem with
wireless-tools rather easily, it turns out I had an
older wireless.h outside of the kernel source tree
(/usr/include/linux/wireless.h) that debian installed
as part of the lib6-dev package, so I replaced that
with the newer version included in the kernel.
Unfortunately that didn't solve my core problem of not
being able to route between wlan0 and eth0 (I've been
using the nat functionality provided by iptables with
the non-routable 192.168.1.0/24 for that). I ended up
having to downgraded to Prism2-2002-05-16 at which
point everything started working perfectly again.
I did forget to mention in my previous mail that I'm
using a D-Link DWL-520 card (Prism 2.5 based PCI card)
on the hostap machine and a D-Link DWL-650 Prism 2.5
based pcmcia card on the client machine.
