No, that should not happen. EVSTAT seems to be collecting some events that are possibly not handled.. Have you checked whether the driver gets any interrupts (e.g., from /proc/interrupt)? If not, this could be the reason for these timeouts and you would need to check your pcmcia-cs configuration.
