Hello,
You need to compile your own kernel (or recompile and reinstall the Kernel
which comes with RedHat). The Kernel Sources and the pre-installed kenel
usually are not configured the same way, and in the moment of installing
hostap you will probably have error regarding mismatching Kernel Symbols
(probably because of versioning, etc). So:
Download a fresh Kernel (or use the Kernel Sources from Redhat).
Compile the Kernel.
Install the new Kernel (use LILO, and I suggest you to keep the old
Kernel...)
And then compile hostAP against that Kernel.
After that, make install will work happily.
I have succesfully installed hostap in a RedHat 7.2 using a 2.4.18 kernel.
Regards,
Jesus
