I am not able to see beacons/association frames in ethereal. It just
displays "unknown" in the Protocol column, and "WTAP_ENCAP" in the Info
column of ethereal console.
I want to see the MAC frames in ethereal, is it possible?
Thanks,
Manjunathan PY

Subject: Re: How to configure ethereal to capture MAC frames on HostAP ?
Ethereal does not need any special configuration for operation with Host AP driver. You just need to get recent enough versions of libpcap and Ethereal so that they have support for 802.11 frames (I use CVS versions) and then you should be able to capture frames with 802.11 headers from wlan0 when using monitor mode 2 (or 3 in CVS version to get some extra Prism2 info). You will also need to set wlan0 interface UP for the capture.
