Hi all,
I've recently bought a laptop for myself and basically want a wireless network.
Originally, I was simply going to get a pair of Lucent cards and run them in ad-hoc mode with VPN services running on the "base" node (as WEP is useless). However, as I've come across this HostAP driver, I am re-considering.
I basically ask: What are the "best" cards for use with the HostAP driver?
I've been offered a Linksys PCI card (as subjet) that I believe is a Prism2 chipset, but am not sure. Anyone tried/used these cards with the HostAP driver.
Also, the driver is regarded as experimental (according to the web site). Would I be best to avoid it and just use Ad-hoc mode? Are there any _real_ advantages of using AP mode considering only about 3-4 remote nodes will be in use and I don't require roaming between APs etc. etc. ???
Any information appricated.
