managed mode sending out beacon?

Dear all,

I am using a wireless card from AmbiCom, model WL1100-PC/PCI( the one I am using is PC card). This card is based on PRISM2.5, and was made in TaiWan.

Today by some chance I found an interesting thing: my card is in managed mode ,channel 6, talking well to my AP, by using another laptop as a scanner, I found the same card is sending out beacons in channel 9. I looked at /proc/net/prism2/wlan0/rids and it was all right! ownchannel=9, current channel=6.

Any one knows what is going on here? a bug or a feature? I did not find this in other cards(like samsung magiclan card, or compaq card).
