It would make sense, if you for instance would like to build a wireless hub with WLAN as backbone to ethernet. But still, a WLAN card in "Managed" mode can't be bridged. An alternative is to use WDS links (which require a HostAP based AP). Jouni has also implemented a "Repeter" mode with standard compliant WDS frames that you might be able to use together with at least some other brands' AP's.
