That depends. Is it a PCI card, a PLX deal, or a PC Card? I can successfully use hostap_pci with my LinkSys PCI card.

After you install the modules under your kernel module tree, you might try running depmod -a, then modeprobe hostap_pci if it's a PCI card. That should load the other modules first and fix the symbol issue.
