hostap setup

I'm trying to setup hostap using a netgear bridge card (PCI-PCMCIA adapter) and a prism2 card. I actually have two cards and I get the same results. That is I have real trouble associating. Im using Debian woody, 2.4.18 kernel and the latest hostap source. Are there any notes, or could somebody give me some help.

There is another problem that I have not yet spent much time on and that is that if I try to reboot, the driver seems to hang when registering wlan0. I seem to have to cycle power to get it to boot.
