Yes, it was a pci->pcmcia card bridge issue.
If you do a 'man i82365', you get a list of options to
go in your /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia file if your PCIC
values equals i82365.
It shows values for many of the chipsets supported
under the i82365 mode, mine was a Richo RL5c476 (found
by cat /etc/pci). Since mine was a PCI->PCMCIA
bridge, I selected the option for PCI only interrupts
On RICOH chipset it is PCIC_OPTS="irq_mode=0".
(WARNING, for other chipsets, this may mean ISA only,
please read the man page).
