I wouldn't say it's completely impossible, since station firmware seems to be able to send standard-compliant 4-address frames in adhoc modes. Alas, this is broken in Host AP mode. I have not given up yet with this and there might be a way of sending real frames somehow without breaking Host AP operations.
Anyway, the upcoming version of Host AP driver does not use IEEE 802.11 standard-compliant WDS data frames. The fourth address is stored after frame payload (just like in OpenAP project). In other words, remote end has to know how to use this kind of structure and this version of Host AP driver will not interoperate with devices using the correct frame format.
