Which secondary station firmware are you using? Driver outputs this in the kernel log that can be checked, e.g., with 'dmesg'.

At least the card seems to be initialized and is responding as expected.

If you are using station firmware version 1.4.2, this would explain the problem. 1.4.2. has a known bug in Host AP mode that prevents stations from associating with the AP; upgrade the station firmware to fix this. However, if the firmware version is something else, there might be something else causing the problem.
