Just plain iwconfig (with no arguments, as root at least, running it several times) or wavemon, which hangs the machine in few seconds.
My test is a ping from a machine in the _ethernet_ (100 mbps) side [*] to another machine in the wireless, using 104 WEP encryption, kernel 2.4.19 and bridging enabled.
[*] It takes a much longer time if I ping-flood _from_ a client the wireless side to a machine in the wireless or ethernet segment.

Couldn't enable nmi watchdog in the notebook (it's a old p133 Digital HiNote), even enabling local APIC and IO-APIC.
