Odd.. The message you reported ('wlan0 unsupported ioctl(0x89fd)') should only appear if your WIRELESS_EXT version is 8 or smaller or if you have not define PRISM2_DOWNLOAD_SUPPORT. That 0x89fd is the correct value for download ioctl so it should certainly match.. Are you sure that you are using the hostap.o module that was compiled with PRISM2_DOWNLOAD_SUPPORT defined? Since you were able to read PDA, at least hostap_{cs,plx,pci}.o is correctly compiled, but ioctl handler is in hostap.o.
