Right i have no idea why but... I went again from the start, complie, install etc..

Still wasn't working...

I loaded hostap.o by hand

Still wasn't working...

I rebooted...

Worked straight away!!

Im convinced that Linux will be the casue of a serious stress problem when im older!!!

Thanks again for the help, it works perfectly judging by the little bit of testing iv done with the various equipment i have here.

This is just hte start of the project though (research in to triangualting client postions for location based services) so im sure ill have plenty more posts to the list!!
