'Repeater' mode in Host AP driver would actually be better named as 'WDS mode'. It is used to create IEEE 802.11 compliant WDS links (e.g., for bridging frames between two Ethernets or for using wireless "backbone" between APs). Master mode adds management frame handling to this, i.e., it allows stations to authenticate and associate with the AP. However, due to a firmware bug, WDS links cannot send IEEE 802.11 compliant frames in Host AP mode. This is the main reason I added 'Repeater' mode, which does not support management frames.
