Prism2-2002-05-19 installed fine on my RedHat 7.3 ( 2.4.18-3 ) system using this Buffalo ( Melco ) card. I configured wlan0, ran dhcpd on the same machine, and my Windows XP client was able to connect without any obvious errors.
BTW, Buffalo is a consumer oriented brand of Melco, which is an OEM partner of Intersil.
I have not tested yet for minor gliches or problems under heavy loads etc.
HOWEVER This is most likely a PCMCIA issue rather than a Host AP issue, so it may be off topic, but I would be greatful for some pointers if anyone has them.
If a serial pcmcia card is inserted in the other PCMCIA slot before
boot, the system freezes at the point where it loads 'modprobe
hostap_cs'
( no problems up to that point, serial card is in slot 0 and recognised
first, no PCMCIA or cardctl errors in /var/log/messages ). If the same
serial card is inserted after boot ( followed by # cardctl insert 0 )
the system freezes with no errors. Again, this is probably a problem
with my PCMCIA configurations, but any information would be much
appreciated.
